Description
The SSCCP is the Italian Pulp and Paper Research Institute. It is an independent public commercial organisation supported by the Italian pulp and paper companies. SSCCP primary task is to support and assist the paper industry including SME's, in applied research, technological innovation and solving problems by services, knowledge transfer and expertise. The Institute has a permanent staff of 29 employees mainly active in the following areas:
- Paper and board recycling.
- Product quality paper and board testing
- Food contact packaging testing
- Microbiology and microscopy
- Environment and biotechnology.
SSCCP participates in the COST Action E 26 "Managing Pulp and Paper Residues" and in the COST Action E 23 "Biotechnology in the Pulp and Paper Industry". It is also one of the RTD's partner in a CRAFT project concerning stickies control in the pulp and paper industry (MONISTICK) submitted in November 2003. The Institute has up-to-date equipment for chemical, microbiology and physical testing (EN ISO 17025 accredited and CEPI-CTS qualified laboratory) and a pilot equipment for repulping recovered paper. Recently, several connections has been established with the University of Milano-Bicocca and the Dept. of Polymer Science of the Italian Council of Research (CNR) to develop technological innovation in the pulp and paper industry.
